WFA Over 70’s National Cup 1st Round
Hartshill Strollers 0  Birmingham WFC 3
The Birmingham’s Over 70’s squad travelled to Kingswinford on Thursday evening 10th April to compete in the 1st Round of the WFA National Cup.
In what was a fairly one sided affair and Birmingham ran out winners by a margin of three goals to nil.
The Birmingham defensive pairing of Barry Huntington and Frank Hughes was dominant once again and were ably supported by central midfielders Derek Greene and Roy Williams, with Roger Sutton leading the line superbly well up front.
Keeper Keith Phipps only had one serious save to make in the whole of the game and another clean sheet was added to his impressive record.
The Birmingham goals were scored by Roger Sutton, Roy Williams and Brian Follows. Because of the short nature of these games ( 20 mins each way ) Roy and Brian, the half time substitute, only played 20 mins each but still managed to impact the game in a positive way with their overall play and their 2 goals.Â
Well done lads.
