Earlier this year Dave Taylor, Simon Dyer and Neil Shand set out to create a 55's ish team based at Brick Kiln Lane, formed from players that all attend regular sessions at the club.
The Birmingham/Solihull Sky Blues were duly formed.
Saturday 13th August saw the Sky blues take on Solihull Moors 50's in a friendly at Brick Kiln Lane
No warm up was needed as the players took to the pitch as the temperature hit 33 degrees.
The opening exchanges were fairly even, until Paul Ivey intercepted a cross field ball and finished with a cool head giving the Sky blues the lead. Within two minutes Ivey added a second and from that moment the Sky blues never looked in any danger. Further goals from Ashley Mathieson and another two from the impressive Ivey and one from Julian Fox allowed the Sky blues to run out comfortable winners 6-3.
Credit to both teams for playing the game in the correct spirit , a re-match is in the offing and a date will be confirmed.
This Saturday 20th August at Brick Kiln Lane the Sky blues take on the Birmingham WF over 58 blues and whites. KO 14.30 admission free....
