WOMENS LEAGUE SUCCESS

Yesterday both BWFC Blues and Whites played their final two games of the Women’s League, with BOTH teams winning their first match and drawing their second!

For the Blues their first game was against Arden Forest Pink where they won 2-0 with goals from Tracy D and Robbo. The goal tally would have been more had it not been for the Pinks quality keeper who seemed to save everything that came at her! The second game was against Braunton a tough final fixture against the team who ended their season third in the table leaving the Blues runners up after drawing 0-0. Congratulations to Forest Vets who won the Karen Carney division.

BWFC Whites first game was against Arden Greens where they won 1-0 after a goal from Nat. Their second and final game of the season was against top of the Rachel Unitt Division league Braunton Wanderers. The team dug deep and took the lead with an early goal from Claire B. However with minutes to go Brauntons voted woman of the season scored passed the Whites keeper after an unfortunate initial save ended up at the back of the net. The team spirit showed by the girls was heartwarming to watch. The team finished in third place in the RU division a spectacular result and worthy of their hard work.

The presentation took place in the sports hall afterwards with all teams receiving medals for taking part. The top three teams received a trophy so both Blues and Whites get to add to the cabinet this year. Last but by no means least each team manager chose their woman of the season from their team, Martyn manager of the BWFC Whites chose Kathy Parker and Dee Reade manager of BWFC Blues chose Donna Nash, congratulations to both players from all at Birmingham WFC!
